Aedes Canadensis
A woodland pool mosquito, these mosquitoes develop in standing water during early spring, usually from melting snow. These mosquitoes are early season pests which begin seeking blood meals as early as late April.
Aedes Vexans
A floodwater mosquito, these mosquitoes develop in pools filled directly by rainwater. A new brood of adults are born after each flooding during the summer. This species requires repeated control efforts throughout the season.
Andes Sollicitans
A salt marsh mosquito, these mosquitoes develop in costal marshes after heavy rainfall or exceptionally high tides. Their persistence is directly related to tidal flooding and can emerge in unbelievably high numbers. These mosquitoes can be an annoyance through late fall.
Conquillettidia Pertubans
A freshwater swamp mosquito, these mosquitoes develop in semi permanent water such as swamps, bogs, and freshwater marshes. Eggs are deposited throughout the mosquito season and hatch within several days, thus, this species is consistently present at all times during the season.
Culiseta Melanura
A freshwater swamp mosquito, this mosquito develops in acid cedar bogs and red maple swamps. These mosquitoes do not bite humans but transmits eastern equine encephalitis virus from bird to bird which other mosquitoes may then transfer to humans.
Culex Pipiens
A stagnant water and container mosquito, these mosquitoes develop in waters with high levels of organic material. Suitable habitats for these mosquitoes are discarded containers and tires. Mosquitoes utilize polluted water often associated with humans making them most popular around cities and towns.
